The releaseparty for Drama at "Sjunde Himlen"

Audience: 700
Length: 45 + 45 min

The day that a lot of us had been waiting for, for a long time was finally here. The day for the releaseparty for "Drama" in Beseech's own hometown, Borås in Sweden.
We caught up with Beseech in the afternoon, when they were just about to start the soundcheck. You could tell that this was something special. There was something in the air I guess you can say. The sound- and lightsystem alone could tell you that this would be a special Beseech gig. No expences saved here, this was not going to be a gig with poor sound or light!
Soundengineer Robert had been up all night to get it all working and everything did when we got there.
The Beseechers were getting a bit nervous now, this was the most important gig for them in a long time so who could blame them? But when they started playing for the sundcheck you couldn't tell that they were nervous, it sounded great.

I helped out a bit with getting the merchandisetable ready for the night. It was packed with the new album, t-shirts and other stuff and most of it sold out during the night.
Then it was time to get the place ready for all of the people that were coming which meant getting rid of all the stuff that wasn't supposed to be there. This proved to be harder than you might think. When using a large PA-system and lightsystem you get rather much cases all over, which you have to find space to store somewhere. Well anyway somehow we managed to get all of stuff out of the way.
Now time was starting to run out so we had to leave and get home to get changed.

The doors opened at 21.00 and when we got there at that time there was allready a long line of Beseech fans outside waiting to get in. I met up with our new wonderful friends from Why Not MC (where Beseech played last). It was fun to meet them all again, most of the club had actually taken the time to get to Borås which was very fun.
400 tickets had been sold before the gig, and Beseech was very happy with that, they hadn't counted on that much. So we knew that there would be a lot of people there this magic night. But when the first gig approached you could easily tell that there were a lot more than 400 people inside. Later we found out that there had been almost 800 people there during the night. That's awesome! Talk about success.
At 22.30 pm Beseech entered the stage for the first of two gigs. This first one was dedicated to Beseech's more slow songs starting out with Friend Emptiness from Drama.
The first set contained 6 songs (see complete list below) and was concluded with a killer version of Manmade Dreams. I don't think I've ever seen an audience jump and scream as much as this one did when Beseech rocked their heads off in this song. It was truly fantastic!

After the first set Beseech mingled with the crowd, or should I say; tried to mingle. Now you could really tell that there were a hole lot of people inside. It wasn't easy for them to move around, they only got a few meters at a time. But it looked like they didn't mind that much anyway :)
It's always fun to play in your own backyard so to speak, meeting a lot of old friends and also more recent fans. We met people from all over Sweden, who had taken the time to get to Borås this night.
In between the two sets there were some entertainment besides Beseech and a lot of good music too. We got to see some amzing fireshows on stage. These guys really haven't learned that you shouldn't play with fire. It was awesome to see how they handled the fire. They juggled with it, they sprayed it (no good english word for that), we stood quite a bit away but we felt the heat coming when they did this. It was really fun to watch.

Well, as time drew to midnight and Beseech redrew to their dressing room to gather before the second set, expectations got higher and higher. And at exactly midnight the speakers were filled with a powerful intro. This was also the time when the live broadcast on the internet was switched on.
The second set was opened with a mighty version of Fiction City which got the crowd going again. After this Erik dedicated the next song to his ex girlfriend, guess which one.... Bitch!
Beseech made if not the best ever then at least one of the absolute best performances that I've seen them do. Everything was so damn good. Both Erik and Lotta made an impressive performance on stage, clearly helped by the extatic crowd. Beseech really enjoyed themselves on stage this evening, you could see that this is why they are still doing it day after day, year after year. They love being on stage performing.
Even Jonas who was not feeling well at all after being sick all week made it through without mistakes, playing with a fever and feeling like shit isn't the best condition for a great gig, but he made it very well.
During the massive Addicted Beseech got company on stage from Manne, part owner of Studio Mega, where Drama was recorded. Producer Christian "Bullen" Silver was also in place. Manne gave the allready massive song even more power to it with his screaming in the refrain. Very nice indeed, maybe a permanent addition to the song?
This marked the end for the second gig but the crowd wasn't pleased with that so Beseech made another entance on stage and performed the ABBA cover, Gimme, Gimme.
I can tell you, I got goose bumps all over when the crowd sang along in the refrain. God damned that was good. A massive choir helped Erik through which made this the highpoint of the evening, at least to my opinion.
After this Beseech came off stage and were now able to just enoy themselves, and they did. From the comments we heard during the night they had all the reasons to feel good about themselves. Everyone was very pleased and impressed by the performances this evening.

Unfortunately the place closed at 2 am, so it was just to pack up and leave for home.

I'd like to give a special personal thanks to all the nice people we met during the party and an even more special thanks to T-bone from Why Not Mc who gave me an idol picture of the famous kitten "Ettan", which you can read more about in the gig report from Why Not Mc.
