The gig at the 2000 Decibel Festival in Bengtsfors (Sweden)

Audience: 250
Length: 45 min

Cold, cold, cold, cold, hot, hot, cold, cold, cold and some cold. That should about sum this day up quite good. It was hard to believe that it's late may here in Sweden right now, the temperature didn't rise above 10 degrees C all day, but it was below that most of the time. That's not the way it's supposed to be here now. The day contained rain, sun, hailstorms, so I guess you could call it a rather varied weather. But the common thing about this day was the cold anyway, it's been a long time since I froze this much.

Well, from time to time you got a bit warmer from some of the great music that was performed on this festival. We watched a band called Friendkill who had a very familiar drummer, those of you remembering when Jonas just had his first baby probably recognise the name Conny. He stept in for Jonas a couple of times when he had the baby. And this was one of his bands. They where really great, you should really check them out.
But other than this it was really a big wait for the evening. My complements to the festival crew though, who really took good care of everyone involved all day long.
There were a lot of familiar faces around, as always when Beseech are playing we met Urgluf and Deus Miseratur two dedicated Beseech fans.

Well on with the day now...after a brief visit at the hospital with one member and filling up empty stomachs time was getting close to soundcheck. We got to our designated dressing room which was really warm and cozy and felt very welcome after the chilly day outside.
When the band who played before Beseech was all done the frantic mess of getting everything on stage began, guitars, basses, drumstuff, keyboards and everything else was hailed on to the stage rapidly, there's not much time between bands on festivals so everything has to be smooth. And as always they are, under the supervision of soundengineer Robert everything got set. You can really tell that this band has been around for a great while now, everyone knows exactly what to do.
The soundcheck went well with the help of the very competent crew from the festival, which were very pleased to work with a band quote "who really can play". Although it was kind of hard to do a soundcheck when Cans was performing on the stage next door at the same time.
Well, back to the dressing room to wait for the moment to go on stage...

At 22.50 this evening the massive intro was heard from the speakers, this newly composed intro really made the ground tremble under our feet, really massive!
Then Beseech burst into Fiction City and we were on our way to the hot section of the day. Beseech made a great gig once again although some were concerned with the cold, it's not easy to play when your fingers feels like ice-cream bars. But they sure played and the crowd was sure into it. After a while we'd just forgotten about the cold.
The set worked really well with a good mix of new and older songs, as always Manmade Dreams is a massive crowdstarter and I really appriciate the guts they have to play the more slower songs at a festival like this. Some may not like it but I think most of the people in the crowd this evening did, Lottas performance with Friend Emptiness is just awesome, kicking Erik off stage and using it all to her self. It sure gives me the goosebumps anyway..
After some confusion from Erik, Beseech finished off with Voices just before closing off with Bitch, as always dedicated to a former girlfriend.
Due to lack of time we didn't get to hear the ABBA cover this evening, but I'm sure it'll be on at the next gig in Gothenburg.

After some socialising we packed up the cars and went off for home. This meant being home at 5 in the morning for my own sake. And I wasn't alone....I had the nice company of a massive cold which is why this report is a bit later than usual. But here it is anyway.
We'll be back again after the gig at Belsepub in Gotheburg on june 4:th.

Do check out the photos and videoclips from this gig below. The sound is not that good but anyway.
