The gig at Sjuhäradsfestivalen, Ulricehamn (Sweden)

Audience: Not a lot
Length: 1 hour 10 mins

It's been a while since I last had the chance to join Beseech on a gig, so it felt rather good to join up with them once again. I met the band at Café Orion which is where they always meet up for coffe. While we were sitting there it started to rain and there was thunder and lightning which didn't seem like that good a sign of the evening to come. But it cleared up so there was no danger of having to cancel the gig.
Sjuhäradsfestivalen is a brand new festival held for the first time this year so it was kind of hard to know what to expect from it, but word had it that there weren't all that much people there. Well, in any way we finished our coffee and went to pack the cars with the instruments and stuff and then got on our way.

I guess our worst fears was met when we arrived and took a walk through the festival area.... there were almost no people there. The staff was bigger than the audience! Not that much fun I guess but the gig had to be done anyway and from what I heard from people there a lot of them were there to see Beseech so that was fun anyway. Ulricehamn is only about 30 kilometers from Beseech's hometown Borås so I'm guessing there were some people from Borås there as well.
Beseech was supposed to go on stage at midnight and we arrived at the festival at about 7 p.m so we had some time to kill. But what to do in an empty festival area which doesn't allow alcohol?? Well, the easy solution to that problem is that you go outside the area to the nearby hotel and sit there for a couple of hours enjoing the sun and a couple of cold ones. Cold Coke's for me unfortunately since I was driving this evening. But it was really nice to just sit there, relaxing and talking with the band.

Well, finally it got closer to midnight and it was time to get ready for the gig, I guess I can say that Beseech has been more inspired for a gig before than this one, but they really showed that they are proffessionals by now and that they give everything they've got for their fans, even if there aren't many of them in front of the stage. This was actually a kickass show, one of the best I've seen so far with the band. I seem to write that in almost everyone of my gigreports but this was really something different, I haven't seen the band so relaxed on stage for a long time. I guess they didn't really feel any pressure at all since there was som few people there and were able to completely let loose. It was so fun to see Beseech really enjoy themselves on stage and having a lot of fun. At least it looked like it to me.
Both Erik and Lotta lost their way in the lyrics but found their way back without any bigger problems so I don't really thing anyone noticed.
One thing that I really enjoy is that they open with Manmade Dreams nowadays, that song usually came at the end before but I like it a lot better as opening act, it's a hell of a good song to open a concert with, The setlist is a really good mix of older and new songs from the "Sunless Days" album, the only one I miss is "Velvet Erotica" from "Black Emotions" which is an absolute favourite live. The beatiful "Lost" really do work great live as well, the stage is left to Mikael and Lotta and they do wonders with this wonderful song which I really do love.

Well, that's about it for this time, I hope you'll all enjoy the pics and videoclips below. The sound and image on the clips might not be all that good but it gives you all a chance to get a feeling for what it's like to see Beseech perform live.
